Day 5: Luxor Valley of Kings & Queens

We visited rock cut tombs in the Valley of the Kings. King Tutankhamun's mummified remains, Temple of Hatshepsut -1st female ruler. Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh who had herself represented pictorially as a male. She served as co-regent with her nephew Thutmose III (c.1479-1425 B.C.E.).
Valley of the Queens home to 30 queens and princesses including Nefertair's tomb and gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. The colors of the ceilings with the blue stars and hieroglyphs with deep carvings and gem stones coloring the tombs were unbelievable. We found ourselves alone in many of the tombs at times.....so rewarding just to stand next to this history of so long ago.Baca lagi
