Well on my Previous fleeting visit to Santiago I decided that I would visit this museum on my return trip.
Little did I expect it to be so graphic and certainly very moving. Not quite on the same par as my visit to Sachsenhausen near Berlin,but equally as harrowing, considering that this took place between 1973 and 1990. The museum has various exhibits like the torture devices used during the Pinochet dictatorship and lots of newsreel footage and eye witness accounts on display, with English translation available.
What was probably the most harrowing part was watching the Chileans searching the pictures and archives that are held here, I took one picture of a family searching the details on a picture wall which really moved me.Read more
