Well the monsoon has now definitely started! The rain was the heaviest I've ever seen and did not look if it was going to stop all day!

We packed up our stuff, put on our fetching waterproofs and prepared ourselves for a run for it to get in the taxi to the port.

My poncho is a particularly fetching yellow plastic number, but it does cover me and my bags.

We were a little concerned about sea sickness so we picked up some tablets on the way.

We need not have bothered as the boat was very still, and the tablets made us drowsy so we fell asleep for the first couple of hours.

The ride was beautiful- through Ang Thong National park.

After the boat came a 2 hour bus to the train station. We got to the train station 4 hours before our train was due and there was very little to do there. So we basically sat in a coffee shop for several hours, then went to the station and there was a delay of an hour an a half- so watched a film on the iPad while we waited.

Eventually the train came and think we were the last station of the night as everyone was already in their bunks apart from us, so we got in our opposite bunks and tried to sleep.
