Birdsville Common Camping

We've selected our spot in Section A, full sun, flat area, close walk into Birdsville township. Greeting and meeting our neighbours camping around us - so far all we're meeting are volunteers at BRB too.
Tea tonight Roger BBQs half the sausages that Luke and Claire gave us and we have them with panfried vegetables. YUM, think we'll do this again for tea tomorrow night.

1st morning I got up and went for a shuffle, went out towards Bashville so on the outskirts of Birdsville to discover this Sunday they've got motorbike racing on one side and on the other they've got horses - campdrafting? Quite a few people with these on - so Birdsville Bakery doing a nice trade this morning.
All quiet back at our camp ground - breakie and shower (in our caravan) next for me.
Roger and I go for a walk into Birdsville - check out the Old Hospital historical display and wander around, find a Cafe in a back street, that we hadn't known about, so get a quick takeaway cuppa and biscuits. Chat to other travellers at the Cafe, then go to the Tourist Information Centre. Enjoy looking at displays here, watch a video (1 hour approx) about Diamantina Spirit (very interesting), I grab a few maps and brochures. Head back to our van for lunch. Sandwich for Rog, open toasties for me.
Lovely afternoon relaxing at our camp site, then after invite go and join in at a nearby camp - where fella is a musican happy to play and sing to entertain around a camp fire. Remain here enjoying a few drinks and meeting other campers before heading back to our caravan for tea. Roger BBQs remaining sausages with some more veggies 🙂
