• Lazy Lizard Tavern and Caravan Park

    26–27 Ogo 2024, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

This place is in Pine Creek. Turns out to be as good as Jen and Michael were hoping for us. After having a drink at the bar and a quick look around, decision made to 'cool our heels' and refocus by staying here for a night.
So we book in for a powered site $41, and settle ourselves into our allocated site No. 6.
We put in the rest of the day relaxing, Roger going and cooling down in the pool a few times, while I update my FindPenguins journal and other things I'd like to get done - including writing in sympathy cards for Stacy and her family on the death of Lorraine East (Stacy's Nan, Jenelle's Mum).
We go back to the Lazy Lizard's bar for Happy hour drinks between 4 to 6pm. Disappointed that Rog and I missed checking out the car display that it is here, we mucked up on the opening times for this (12 noon to 4pm each day) - we mistakenly thought it was open to 5pm. We end up chatting with other travellers, before coming back to our caravan for tea. Chicken snitzels and salad. Roger has a shower, then relaxing, bedtime.
Tuesday morning sees me up around 7am to go for a 'shuffle' around Pine Creek. I head to the Stuart Hwy then come back and do a couple of laps around an oval before jogging off to the lookout and returning to our caravan park site. Roger tells me he's been for a walk checking out the sights as well. He now waits for me to have my shower as he's prepared stuff to cook up some bacon and eggs for us. We enjoy this in the park's camp kitchen. Tidy up and get ready to leave - we do a quick short walk to the park beside the caravan park to check out all the bats we've been told are there....then I go to the Pine Creek Post Office to post off the sympathy cards to Stacy and family. Leave after 10am.
