Arrive and drive about campground until we find our site No. 50. Requires a bit of strategy to get our van positioned, so we drive around the campground again to come into our site the way we'd like for our awning etc. Takes some 'tweeking' with Rog's reversing and forward a few times to get our spot how we like - happy! Roger very keen (as it's so warm) to have our lunch and then get ourselves to the water spots here for a swim/dunk. Both looking forward to this. I have a few things I want to do first in the caravan., budgeting stuff. so our lunch is held off for a little while (turns out just as well!). Just as we've almost finished making up sandwiches for Rog. and toast and reheated taco mince for me - Rog notices a vehicle with caravan pull up quite close to us...he makes a comment like ' oh, hope these people don't think this site is theirs' (or some such!), naturally I'm thinking 'what a joke' ! Next thing we've got a fella knocking on our caravan door - saying just that - that they're booked for site No 50 for tonight.....Roger immediately steps out to see what can be worked out with this predicament! Turns out they (a couple) can prove their booking with a confirmation on their mobile. As all bookings for this place need to be made online beforehand - this is the correct thing to be able to show. Unfortunately Roger didn't have any confirmation to show, even though we thought he'd booked a few days back (on the 23rd). As we are now in this place with no mobile reception or WiFi, we had no choice but to apologise and vacate the site. As we were just about to have our lunch, I explained this, and they were nice enough to be prepared to let us finish our lunch 1st. Rog couldn't settle to do this, he started packing us up, so I quickly ate my lunch (talk about indigestion!) then completed and packed Roger's sandwiches into containers and put in the fridge. Next proceeded to tidy up and get the inside stuff of the caravan ready to move. Roger had us sorted and shifted from the site pretty quickly. We left the couple on good terms, just us driving away frazzled and embarrassed. As we drove away, we reassessed what we would do - firstly drive until we had mobile service so we could check about our booking and when it was made for (dates). So when this happened we discovered Roger hadn't finalised the booking - turns out no booking was made at all! Oh well, Rog isn't going to forget this in a hurry! Decided to keep heading Darwin direction, and I suggest we check out Jen and Michael's recommendation of Lazy Lizard Tavern and Caravan Park in Pine Creek.Baca lagi
