• Spring Creek Rest Stop

    18.–19. sep. 2024, Australia ⋅ 🌬 24 °C

This rest stop can be used for overnight stays, and is just near the entrance to the National Park that is home to the Bungle Bungle Range, so we find a spot to unhitch and leave our caravan while we go check the Bungle Bungles out. Roger deflates the ute tyres to 24psi before we head off.
We return around 4pm to find our caravan exactly how we left it, and plenty more 'neighbours' as other campers have been arriving. Roger gets busy, reinflates the ute tyres and mends the ute awning, as one end come loose on the corrugated gravel road today (held it in place with a tie down strap to get us 'home'). I set out our chairs and enjoy some drinks. We both have showers, then have leftovers for tea. Cold silverside and salad for Rog, mince pasta (reheat in saucepan) for me.
Now just relaxing until bedtime - Rog reading, me writing this up.
Well, we're still waking up quite early thanks to time change, get up 6.30am and have leisurely breakfast. Both eating our porridge outside at a table near our caravan when I notice a corella hanging around nearby making some noise. On watching 'him' he flys to a wood 'knot' on a close tree, and to my surprise and delight I realise he's visiting another corella sitting in a hollow in that 'knot'. Unfortunately I didn't have my mobile to take a photo of them together - could tell the sitting one happy with the visit. I took a photo before we left - when 'she' just sitting quietly by herself. We do our tidy up, pack up and we're heading off from here by 8.00am. We're just going to drive today, and see if we find somewhere appealing to stay on our way to Derby....
