• Beach driving Redcliff Bay

    22 Oktober 2024, Australia ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

We decide to check out the coast so once we get near the soft sands and hard rocks we let the tyre pressures down on our ute to 20psi. First beach we go on is very soft sand, and doesn't continue along like we thought it would (looking at our hema maps). So once we're on firmer ground we stop and have a look around, stunning colours of the terrain, and work out we'll have to go back the way we just came. Have a cuppa 1st by heating our billy, and once finished, return as we need to. Now go driving along the tracks running parallel to the coast without driving onto the beach. We do pull up at a parking place to get out and wander onto a beach that we can see a couple of people out gathering 'something' into their buckets. I go have a chat with an indigenous lady who's out there - she's happy to show me and explain what she's getting. Turns out she's looking for oysters (got half a bucket full) and collecting large empty shells. Today she's found 2, a Conch and a Cowrie. Roger and I enjoy a chat with this friendly lady, then resume our drive. Head back to the main road, we stop and Roger reinflates our tyres, while I make up our ham and salad rolls for our lunch. Eat these before we head off.Baca lagi
