    Home Sweet Home

    August 18, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

We had a good drive home after our break in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Glad to have seen Dani, Phill & Bosco and knowing we'll make the trip again soon. But as always, I'm some glad to be home

    Ballgame at Turner Field

    August 17, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Back in Atlanta, we got to experience one of the last games at Turner Field with Dani & Phill as the Braves played the Twins. The views of the city & the sunset from our General Admission seats were beautiful. Unfortunately, the home team didn't win, but we had a good time anyway.Read more

    Long creek falls

    August 15, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 28 °C

Rerouting with some help from the lady at the convenience store who gave great directions, we found the original hike after a long, hair raising and bumpy drive down a dirt road. Although part of the Appalachian Trail, this section is pretty easy hike to a spectacular setting.Read more

    Seacreek Falls

    August 15, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 22 °C

Larry searched the web to find the perfect 2 mile hike to what promised to be a beautiful waterfall for the following morning. This wasn't it. It was, however, a 1/4 mile hike to a beautiful waterfall. Once again Siri let us down this trip but we were still rewarded with another adventure and a fantastic view.Read more

Wrong path, but a great waterfall nevertheless.

    Mercier Orchard & evening fire

    August 13, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

We felt we deserved a treat after our challenging hike so we went to the area's #1 attraction, Mercier Orchard. A huge general store selling everything from fruit to nuts, they are most known for their delicious pocket pies. We bought 2 for each of us and enjoyed a picnic of half of them by the pond. Even the dogs got a treat.
After a rest, hot tub & dinner, we managed to get a fire going for hot dogs & s'mores. This was Phill's inaugural experience with spider dogs but I'm sure there are many more in his future. Bosco & Kolby were not totally thrilled with the campfire, but behaved well enough to earn a bite of hot dog.

    Toccoa River Swinging Bridge

    August 13, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Our planned hike this morning, began with a rather alarming 3 mile drive down a dirt road to the parking area. The dogs were very eager, each jockeying to be the leader, as we made the fairly easy hike to the Swinging Bridge.
We decided to press on and managed the 1 mile climb to the summit. On the return hike down, the dogs enjoyed a romp & drink in the stream, a first for Bosco.

On the way to the summit, always just coming up. We made it and gained a great deal of accomplishment.

    Tir Na Nog

    August 12, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

After checking in at the Southern Comfort's office in Blue Ridge, we navigated the twisty turny roads to the cottage named Tir Na Nog. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, two levels of porches overlooking an awesome view, the cabin exceeded our expectations. We settled in with a few beer, enjoyed the sunset & waited for Dani, Phill & Bosco to arrive.Read more

    Camp Cherry Log

    August 12, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 26 °C

We were a bit early to check into our cabin and decided to take a side trip for a picnic lunch in a park on our way to Blue Ridge. Siri directed us toward Cold Mountain Park. We got more & more off the beaten path, the roads got bumpier, and narrower until we finally decided to call it. We ended up at a deserted Campground. It was was quite the place in its time, hookups for trailers, a tennis court, swimming pool, all adjacent to a cute little stream. I guess people stopped coming. But it was a lovely, remote spot for lunch.Read more

    Woodstock

    August 11, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Love the little town that Dani now calls home. After taking the dogs on a 2 mile walk, we drove downtown to J Christopher's & enjoyed a yummy brunch. Part of their ambiance is a miniature train that runs around the room on a track suspended from the ceiling. After lunch, we explored the park & downtown shops including a funky gift shop called the Blue Frog. We admired their advertising when we spotted their tricked out car as we left the parking lot. We finished the day with a delicious dinner at Freight Kitchen & Tap with Dani & Phill. Are you sensing a theme in the town's history?Read more
