First bight of the Nullarbor

It was a rough start to the day after high winds and rain set in overnight in Ceduna making sleep difficult and packing up the tent very unpleasant.

After a while both the weather and our moods brightened up, we saw Australia's largest windmill, paid for a great view at the head of the bight, got an even better one of the sea cliffs later on for free and then arrived at Koonalda homestead to make camp for the night.

It was still very windy so after one aborted attempt in the open we moved our tent next to an old cottage to use it as a wind break. A walk to see a blowhole, dinner and then a stunning sunset over the plain. A much better finish to the day than the start.Read more
