    Surf's Up

    I asked the life guard why the flags were red at the west end of the beach and the rest were yellow. She explained that the currents coming from the south were very strong and could catch a person and take them onto the rocks at the west. The fishermen claim the active water is good for catching big fish, around four to seven pounders.

    The water was decidedly agitated from the previous two days. It was both exciting and scary at the same time. The weather was warm and there were plenty of sunbathers on the sand. Kids and elderly alike took to the waves and quickly recognized the power of the water.

    We met our hostess Maria walking along the waters edge. She goes in for a swim and her dose of Vitamin D every day she can—it's a daily routine.
