Silk Weaving

Silk weaving is an important part of Croatian culture. Girls used to start spinning and weaving silk at an early age so that by the time they married, they had made all of their silk garments for the rest of their lives. Intricate patterns tell their stories with early years reflected in pink tones, young adult years in red, mature mothers in burgundy and widows in such deep hues that it looks black.
