Flour Mill and Fulling Mill

Deeper into the Croatian countryside we journeyed to see both a flour mill and a fulling mill run by the power of water. Farmers used to bring their grains to the mill on donkeys and the huge granite stones ground the kernels into flour.
Further up the stream, a fulling mill was used to pound the coarsely woven wool cloth into softer, stronger fabric. We were able to touch samples of woolen material, pre-fulling and post and we agreed that the processed cloth was preferred.Weiterlesen
