• Murano Island

    We took a water taxi through the Venetian canals and across the sea to Murano Island which has been famous for centuries for its fine glassware. After a glass blowing demonstration where the crafter made a vase and a glass horse, we visited the showrooms which were filled with chandeliers, statues, wine glasses and jewelry. All colours and designs sparkled at us from their mirrored shelves, and I fell in love with a black and gold sea turtle. I did not love the price tag though so it stayed on its shelf.
    Our trip back to Venice brought us past beautiful buildings and bridges rising above the blue waves and it felt like living in a fairytale.
