Carcassonne

Set off after an amazing breakfast towards Carcassonne.
The weather was a little overcast but still warm. The paths were great—quiet and not too busy. The bikes were behaving, so all was good.

We stopped for coffee at a little place by a lock, which turned out to be an art café. We had to be members to buy a coffee, so we joined! Just as we left, it started to pour with rain, but luckily we were only 7 miles from Carcassonne, so it wasn’t too bad.

We arrived in the city and had lunch while waiting to check in.
29 miles today.
We explored the medieval castle, though it was incredibly busy and full of tourist tat.

Afterward, we headed back to the apartment to see if the bags had arrived so we could shower before dinner.
We took a walk and enjoyed a glass of wine, followed by a fantastic three-course dinner right by the appartment.Read more
