    My second day in Santa Cruz started well with a lovely cooked breakfast from my host, Rocio. I had a tour booked into he Highlands to see some more tortoise and on the way my guide, William, asked if I would like to stop as Los Gemelos. I said yes and, not really sure what to expect, I followed his direction to the entry point and followed the trail around. It was an outstanding sight! You can see that it was quite windy and a little wet, that's because the climate on the Galapagos varies depending on where you are. While the beaches and surrounding areas can be quite arid; the Highlands are full of vegetation and nearly constant mist like rain. Los Gemelos are two craters formed by unstable ground left by underground magma activity in the middle of a forest of Scalesia. As the sign says, 'Even apparent destruction can great beauty.'Read more
