Arrived last night at midnight. My hotel room is a postage stamp (100 sq feet) but a perfect location and everything I need! Quiet too!
I slept so well and didn't have to get up early to walk 20! I did find some breakfast early and was at the Prado by 1015 or so. What a treat!!! Took mini breaks and stayed almost 4 hours- so much to see! I also did a "free tour" in the afternoon (tip based payment) and learned so much more about Spanish history...some of it is quite disturbing- perhaps every country has its disturbing history :( We saw the Royal Palace, Cathedral, plaza del Mayor, plaza del sol, and more.
