• Tranquilo Tinquilco

    27–31 jan., Chile ⋅ ☀ 17 °C

4 nights by the beautiful, peaceful Tinquilco Lake was a blessing 😍, especially after the crazy crowds in Pucon (see pic). We kayaked and swam and sat and admired, while based at Olga's camping at the far end of the lake.

I have no photos of Molly's 20th birthday, when we kayaked to a quiet spot and picnicked on delicious salads and cake, as I promised not to use my phone that day â˜ș.

It's absolutely peak holiday season in Chile right now, so there were heaps of families and groups of friends and couples enjoying the space too. We asked for a quieter site and got a prime spot with our own creek crossing and big grandmother coigue tree 😍 - it was tops!

A highlight was bumping into "the Argentinians" again: Sisters Euge & Lina, plus Vicente. We'd met in Conguillo National Park the week prior, inspired by mutual attraction to have a 20-minute chat mid-trail while other groups trod by. This time we visited each other's camps, talked a bunch, hugged and swapped gifts & contact details. Such delightful, free, youthful energy! I hope we see them again some day.
