• The Waterfalls - Mullewa

    Here we sit on the much undercut laterite of the river banks watching a classic outback sunset, and dozens of Tree Martins performing the evening ritual of sporting and hunting for insects. They roost in the overhang above the river. Actually it may only be one dozen, as the reflection off the glassy surface of the water duplicates the action.
    Two nights here and each so different. It was overcast and windy last night - still and clear tonight with the moon waxing to three quarters.
    Why is it that free camps like this generate feelings of relaxation and connection? It also inspires longer posts on FindPenguins.

    Mullewa is know as the home of Monsignor Hawes. A very industrious chap. You would think he would have his hands full saving the souls of the parishioners, who must have had some very unholy thoughts when the rain didn’t fall or the mine didn’t reveal a bounty. Our Monsignor also dashed around the region designing and in some cases even building chapels and assorted Church buildings. He has quite the palmarès
