    A trip to Fira

    Another day swanning around Santorini.
    We had a lovely time people watching while we sat and saw the sunset. I kind of thought the signs advising against walking on the cobbled streets in high heels were a joke - but no people really try it.
    Also when we left for Fira at about 5pm was saw then setting up the grills at the restaurant next to our hotel - we got there at about 9pm for dinner and the grill was still firing. Very tasty.    Read more

    We have arrived at influencer island and as all good influencers should we spent most of the day lounging on the beach. No photos sorry bc they're all for our sponsored posts 💸🤑 it's so hard being so famous and so influential...

    In the afternoon we got the bus over to Fira to see the sunset and the pretty houses. This is when we realised we were maybe not quite cut out for the influencer life as we were not wearing enough white linen and I wasn't prepared to recline on/over the safety wall on the cliff to get my Insta photos. We returned instead to our scuffed backpacker roots and grabbed some chippies and beers from the supermarket and climbed up a ledge on a wall to get a view of the sunset away from the selfie sticks 🤠 it was way cheaper that the €20 cocktails that had a view 🍻

    We elected to get the bus home and try the local restaurant next to our house for a late dinner which featured "the best pork [Alfred] has ever had in [his] life" and impeccable vibes !!    Read more

    Drinking and driving (but not together).

    We once again started the morning by doing very little and then went to the beach for a swim and some lunch! We then hired a car 😶

    We opted for a smart car which had an auto transmission because I was a bit nervous about driving... thank god we did! Alfred is a weapon behind the wheel of a shitbox!

    Our first proper outing was to Santo Wines which does fancy expensive wine tastings, but we walked in the back door, cut to the chase and bought ourselves a bottle to take somewhere with our own view. After pretending to be influencers and getting some photos with the bottle.... We elected to hike up to a tiny chapel we had seen that over looks the whole of Perissa (the beach town we are staying at) and watch the sun go down from there with our wine. We miss judged slightly and the actual sun went down behind the cliff but we still saw all the colours and had a glorious time!    Read more

    Relaxed morning, lunch on the beach and then we hired a car 💀😵🚗
    Despite being an automatic I (alfred) managed to stall it in traffic which was an adventure. But we set about using the car for its intended purpose: winery visits and walking up cliffs. Very useful.Read more

    Road trip!!

    Big adventure for our last full holiday day!

    Armed with our smart car and a relatively small island we were ready to explore! We started the morning at the Red Beach, not really a fantastic beach but the enormous red cliffs were a spectacular view! After a brief swim there we adventured on to the light house on the south west corner of the island! It was pretty awesome standing right out on the point and being surrounded by sea on almost all sides!

    We then found an accidental Venetian palace that had a secret cafe inside which was an amazing lunch stop and they gave us a farewell shot of a caramel liquor! This was also where we learnt that salad kind of just means dip in Greece 😶

    A quick shower and costume change later and we headed up to Oia, the North western point of the island, to watch the famous Oia sunset. To say that the people around we a bit feral would be an understatement but we again went full scuffed backpacker. We climbed right out in a rocky outcrop and had the most spectacular view of the sunset unimpeded by anyone (except the hens do on a yacht who had a stripper up the rigging dancing to 'it's raining men'). It was the most spectacular end to our big global adventure and we're getting ready to start our journey home tomorrow!    Read more
