    Day 3&4

    Chill couple of days, getting to grips of the American culture outside of disneyland. Car pick up didn't go to plan as the mustang was damaged by the previous renter. Alas, we ended up with a 'premium' hybrid & off we went to our second hotel nearer the west side of LA.

    Took a trip to a shopping mall double the size of west quay. Quite overwhelmed with all the shops, we headed to a local ranch house (ate way too much food).

    Had olive garden for my birthday & again ate way too much food, driving back to the hotel was a struggle.

    Universal Hollywood Studio Day 5

    Was 35° today so we gave the beach a miss. Headed to universal studios instead

    Saw all the studios where certain films like jurassic park, fast n furious & harry Potter were filmed

    Day 6

    Beach day! Spent most of the day at Santa Monica, going up and down the beach stopping to sun bathe now and then. Water was quite cold and rough so didn't venture in past the knees.

    The longest beach we've ever been to. From top to bottom its an 8 hour walk! We got as far as muscle beach, explored the pier, famous skate park & got a fridge magnet.

    Got back just in time to see our evening entertainment at the Hollywood bowl (ricky gervais). Both the venue and ricky were great. Would definitely see him again!    Read more

    Day 7

    Day up & around the Hollywood hills. Drove up to the hillside just before the hollywood sign for the famous picture.

    Tracked back down the mountain and parked up. We ended up hiking around the lake Hollywood reservoir and saw some wildlife along the way.

    Spent the afternoon round the hotel pool & had a chill one ready for an early start at the griffith observatory tomorrow.    Read more

    We decided to head to malibu first thing. Most of the area from the santa monica side of malibu had been hit quite bad from the fire. Not much left of the houses along the beachfront, was a little ominous.

    The pier along the front was still there and open for business, so we sat down for some brunch and watched the surfers.

    Little walk through the park there, then a drive up the coast and into the mountains back to LA.

    A fight through LA rush hour to the dodgers game in the evening. Seats were great with a great view of the game! Shame they lost in overtime.    Read more

    Day 9 Six Flags

    Last full day in LA. We thought we'd make it a good one, so we spent the day at six flags magic mountain!

    Got there for when the park opened to maximise riding time. Ended up getting on the majority of the scary/thrill rides before the rain & thunderstorms stopped us.

    The park was great as had lots of different varieties of coasters, stand up & hanging rides.

    Would definitely go again & would recommend to anyone coming to LA.
