    Hotel Eva Rooftop

    May 14, 2017 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Time to check out the new roof terrace in Hotel Eva, right in the center of Faro. Nice decoration. Chill out music tends to mess with my nerves though.

Found a restaurant on the same location, same great views, no music, fair (but not budget) prices. Mental note taken: come and try a meal.Read more

  • Parque Ambiental de Vilamoura

    May 16, 2017 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

The Parque Ambiental de Vilamoura, translates as Environmental Park of Vilamoura, and it's a less known attraction in the region.

It's settled in an unlikely area, amidst a sewage station and golf greens. This is a spot where I used to come often, back in the days I lived in Vilamoura (2006-2007) and I am not sure I returned here since then.

It's a quiet area, ideal for a walk or some short distance biking. Specially in the Spring, when the birds are more active.

Talking about birds, you wont wanna miss the birds watching shelters. There are two of them.

I also like the old farm building, by the main entrance, and when it rains, the Quarteira creek is nice, with all the water flowing.

  • Supermercado Apolónia

    May 17, 2017 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Apolónia is a special supermarket. It's not a chain and it's a gourmet shop. Its prices are above the average but the products are exquisite, exotic. It has been around for quite a while and I like to pay it a visit a couple of times a year. Always come out with a handful of yummy products. It's a unique place.Read more

  • Series "It has been a while" - I

    June 14, 2017 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Arriving in Lisbon after one month in Eastern Europe I plan to revisit my past here. First stop is the Zoo. Haven't been there since I was 22. That's almost 30 years. Memories, my father, childhood. I decide to stop by in a cafe we used to go after visiting the zoo. It doesnt exist anymore but the neons are still there.

Then I visit Lisbon's Books Fair, something I've been tryingvto do for years. I have stronger memories buried here. Not only childhood and father. Youth, in general. University years. Girlfriens, long June days, longing for my school mates, gone in thevlong Summer vacations. I find the fair better than ever.
