Day 2: Negombo —> Galle

FIRST STOP —> Galle Face Hotel in Colombo

Mid-travel day post … too much not to share as we ventured out with our first day with the Tuk Tuk (still waiting for Mike to name his whip, stay tuned).

I think Mike summed the drive in our Tuk Tuk best by saying … “I didn’t see any of this on all the videos I watched” and classified driving around as a free for all. And I of course added “… with no seatbelts!”

Lots to take in as we scooted around
… dogs, people, potholes (even a random cow) and went through what I’m sure was the fish market (insert smell of fish 🐟🤢) and lots of Jesus statues! Amen. 🙏🏼

Intense … but we made it to the Galle Face Hotel for coffee, toilet break (they use toilet, not restroom) and a sandwich. What a beautiful hotel! Such history here!

The menu listed the many celebrities that have stayed here over the years … including the star from my fav movie. Name that actress? 😉

And only $100/night to stay here. 🤯

Weather is perfect! Overcast but warm … a little humid. Skin loves it, hair does not.

The people between Negombo and Colombo remind me a lot of Peru and Guatemala. Homes are shacks, dirt floors, resourceful in using what they have to do what they need to do … and so on. Pics say a lot … Fishing being a huge market for them and bummed the video I thought I was taking didn’t turn out. Fish market was wild!

With belly’s fully and Mike coming down from his hour and 20 min EVOC adventure, it’s back on the road.
