• Day 1 - Negombo

    October 26, 2025 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Negombo is considered a beach town just outside of Colombo … so after a Sri Lankan breakfast (no Hoppers, 😞) , we took a walk to the nearby beach where we immediately bonded with our new beach dog, Ralph. Ralph seemed to mirror some Payton qualities… RBF, loves pets and quite particular on his choice of other furry friends.

From the beach, we wandered and found a Zen coffee shop that juiced us for the BIG part of our day … Tuk Tuk pick up. Zen was pet friendly so lots of kitty cats for Mike but he overlooked that with the strong, delicious cup of Joe they served up.

Onto to TukTukRentals to snag our whip for the remainder of the trip. Mike was hopeful we could swap the Tuk Tuk for the Landie but no can-doeee. We are locked in on this, drop-top 3-wheel chariot.

After a few small hiccups and our “yeti” all packed, we were off! P.S. If you know of my Cabo ATV debacle, then the fact that I was open to driving this hog is HUGE. But nope … hard pass.

After our Tuk Tuk (name TBD) was secured, back we went to the Belmont too rinse off for our massages and dinner at Secret Spa and Salt.

Ayurveda is a Sri Lankan massage technique and Mikes been reading up on it. Supposed to wonderful for stress, headaches … all of it. So after massage and some herbal tea, it’s a miracle I made it through dinner. SO sleepy and relaxed. Wild! Highly recommend!

Dinner! Well, I barely made it through … but so good. Finally had a hopper. I’d describe it as a light, delicate tasty snack. Filled ours with caramelized onions, fold and enjoy!

    Day 1 is a wrap!

Tomorrow? Packing up and headed to Galle!
