• Day 8 - Quepos (Manual Antonio)

    10. januar, Costa Rica ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

After a long drive yesterday, we stayed close to home today … well kind of. First we hit up Manual Antonio National Park, and by we, the crew this morning was Mike, Carolyn, Z and I. Others stayed back to rest up!

Quepos is home to Manuel Antonio National Park and since Quepos is quite warm and moist, we were up and out early this morning to give it a go. This park is much smaller than the Monteverde Cloud Forest but it sure packs the people. For today though … we decided we would “tour” ourselves. I mean … we’ve covered a lot of ground this past week with all the animals we have seen and activities, so we saved the Colones (remember, that is the national currency) and stayed firm with our “No gracias” as all the “official” tour guides who promised us a Bigfoot. 😉

Our self-tour was more of a pleasant walk with hope of seeing some wildlife and was quite nice! We took a path less traveled (typical) and were so glad we did. The tour groups were large and loud = no animals, which would just irritate us, so we went 👉 when everyone else went 👈.

That choice took us to the beach …. Where we were able to take in the sound of waves crashing, tail crabs scurrying along the sand and enjoy the fresh air hitting our faces. The ocean breeze was welcoming to dry off a bit of our own moisture from the humidity! Our route took us around the island and while it wasn’t packed with animals, we did see some interesting crabs, a few rambunctious monkeys boxing and breath-taking views of beach and trees.

After our self-tour … we headed to Emilio’s for brunch, where we delighted in a meal but most importantly, found ourselves a legit Key Lime Pie! Always a good time for dessert, so we shared a slice. And …. pre-ordered a whole pie for pick-up tomorrow. Happy day!!!!

After Emilios and a stop at a MiniSuper … it was home-time, where some napped, some relaxed by the pool with a good book and cold drink and others played pool. No monkeys in our trees yet but spotted a beauty of a bird! All and all … it was an “enjoy the house” kind of day. And we loved it!!

Dinner tonight was at Samui, a local Thai food joint. Not quite Thai Pepper (M&A Woodtown fav) but it scratched our Thai food itch and we all left pleased!!!

Back at the house, the night ended with a friendly game (or games) of billiards. Let’s just say … many laughs were had, the tile was tested for strength, Mike had some secret shots, we all (at one time) agreed the table leaned a bit off to the left, and … I’ve convinced Z to invite me to Chico so we can sandbag some folks for some real cash. People may suspect Z has skills but … me? They won’t even see it coming! 😂 (I have a kind of voo-doo to make my opponents scratch on the 8-ball … it’s my secret move).

Good QT today! And the key lime pie sure was a pleasant twist of fate!

Tomorrow will be our fishing adventure. We have made some bets on fishing so stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. This could get interesting!

    Much love,
    M&A
