La malediction de Lassen

FR : Notre prochaine destination est Redwood NP, sur la côte tout au nord de la Californie. Lassen Volcanic NP est sur notre route. La dernière tentative pour aller voir Lassen s'était soldée par un échec sur le fil, le parc ayant fermé pour l'hiver le jour même de notre arrivée à cause de grosses chutes de neiges pendant la nuit. Cette fois c'est l'inverse, nous sommes là trop tôt, le parc n'a pas encore été complètement deneigé. Nous pouvons quand même nous dégourdir les jambes autours du Lac Manzanita. L'odeur de souffre qui s'échappe d'une marmotte de boue bouillonante ravive le souvenir indélébile de Yellowstone NP. En sortant de Lassen, la route nous offre une vue incroyable sur la vallée inondée de nuages.

EN : Our next destination is Redwood NP, on the coast up north of California. Lassen Volcanic NP is on our way to Redwood. The last attempt to go to Lassen was a last minute fail since the park winter closure happened the exact day we arrived there because of a snow storm during the night. This time, this is the opposite, we are here too early, park roads are not snow-cleared yet. Still, we are able to stretch our lake walking around the Manzanita lake. The smell of sulfur escaping from a bubbling mud pot revive the indelible souvenir of Yellowstone NP. On the way out of Lassen, we are offered an incredible view of the valley flooded with clouds.Read more
