Mt. Manaia

As we had even more time after the Quarry Gardens (and going shopping for camping equipment!), we drove to Mount Manaia and walked 2 km to reach the summit (it‘s “only“ 420 m high). The total 4 km hike that was supposed to take at least two hours, was conquered by Maddie and I in 1:25 minutes. I can‘t say I enjoyed carrying my backpack all the way, though. ^^
It was a bit of a rushed hike to be back at Al‘s and Sue‘s in time for a delicious last dinner in Whangarei, but the view from the mountain was awesome.
After our dinner, we set off for our campsite near the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The campsite was a beautiful place, at least I think so, we never actually got to see it in daylight. However, we did have a breathtaking view of the stars while we were putting up our tent.Meer informatie
