• The End and a New Beginning

    The day had to come eventually. In the early morning of 01.01., Timo had to fly back home — and I miss him dearly. 😔

    And I flew to Perth via Melbourne. After just having explored Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria with their different time zones and ridiculous versions of sunset and sunrise, I was now greeted by yet another time zone in Western Australia. I genuinely felt gaslit by my watch, which kept quietly adjusting itself while I tried to make sense of time.

    I arrived in Perth an hour before midnight and took an Uber to my well-rated hotel.
    Well. Here’s the thing.

    The hotel was absolute shit.

    The pub downstairs was award-winning — which is clearly where the reality-distorting good reviews came from. The accommodation itself was one of the worst I’ve encountered so far. “Luckily,” enough things were awry to warrant a multi-layered complaint and, eventually, a refund and a free lunch.

    Highlights included: no toilet paper (apparently, the responsible person had simply forgotten to buy it) and enough dust and grime to build your own life-sized dust bunny.
