Touring the Cameron Highlands Part 2

After that ordeal and a toilet experience I’d rather not elaborate on, we drove on to many more stops - among them a strawberry farm, a mushroom farm, a temple (you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all…), a bee farm, a cactus and flower shop, a fruit and vegetable market (I tried white corn - awesome! So sweet, and it can be eaten raw!), and another BOH tea plantation and factory.

BOH, incidentally, stands for “Best Of Highlands” - founded in 1929 by Scottish entrepreneur John Archibald Russell on the Boh Estate. Still one of Malaysia’s most iconic tea brands, and still Scottish-owned in its origins.

The tour was very comprehensive all in all, but lots of stops were rather unnecessary.
A pleasant surprise was the bee farm - lots of honey to buy in little sticks, lots of flavours: passionfruit, strawberry, propolis, durian, mint, and whatever else I’ve since forgotten. 😄
At the end of the day I was rather exhausted. We all went out for dinner and I headed back to the hostel - a faint whiff of citronella still in the air.

I was getting ready for bed when I spotted one of the girls from the previous night and was promptly invited to a round of cards. New game for me - Cambio. It was quite fun! Which also meant I got to bed past midnight instead of at 10pm as planned. 😄”Read more
