• Second Day of the Ha Giang Loop

    June 19 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

I was still really tired in the early morning!

A sorry breakfast of two eggs and four slices of cucumber and tomato later, we hopped back on the bike.

Yesterday, my butt was starting to hurt something fierce. Today it was gonna get worse - and my knees, my back, and, just to complete the picture, my feet weren’t happy either. 😁

We went to a few lookout spots. Today the views were absolutely stunning! Ridiculously beautiful!

Though at first, we were in the middle of a cloud and couldn’t see anything. But slowly it was clearing up here and there, and a few mountain tops peeked through.

Just wow. Those moments when you grasp the very best of what nature has to offer, hit deep.

The last stop before the new homestay for the night was another viewpoint (with a cafe where I had my favourite matcha to date!), where I met a few of the others from the previous night. I was happy about our little encounter and we had all hoped that would mean we’d be staying at the same place again tonight.

    Spoiler alert: we didn’t.

Instead, I’m staying in a dorm of 16 beds with two people. I’m one of them. The other is my driver.

I’m not comfortable with that set-up.

Especially confusing, since the company explicitly mentioned that I would not be sharing accommodation with the driver.

The amount of times I’ve learned not to rely on or trust people is, sadly, staggering.

And on a final note: the bathroom gets a 5/10 on the grossness scale. Could be cleaner, could be worse - however, it features an impressive range of the entirety of what the olfactory spectrum of ammonia has to offer.
