    Munich: the SQ hub with the best train connection to the Dolomites
    A short domestic train to the fast train station. We camped out at the only place with seats.French cafe but we were still able to grab a quick German offeringAnd we squeezed in a quick trip to Aldi to grab protein bars for the hiking ,& drinks for train rideIt's a heatwave in Europe at the moment. Hopefully the mountains will be coolerOur private air-conditioned cabin. Bliss!And drinks were included! We hid our cheap Aldi offerings from the waitress' eyes.The view of the German countryside was beautiful from the planeBut much nicer from the trainBressanone! Nearly there...Very grateful that our final connection was on timeA short drive through the quirky villages of Val Gardena47 hours later: Hotel Montchalet!A spacious but very unusual glam mountain lodgeNo international roast here1The shower doubles as a steam room, has a mist function & toggles therapeutic lighting and musicApparently... the control panel is trickier than a Japanese toilet1Odd little sculptures and paintings are scattered throughoutA nice option to stay awake until dinnerQuick meal & we crashed.. Odd that we feel such accomplishment despite being pampered the whole way.

    We completed the rest of our 47 hour door to door slog to make it to Ortisei. Plane from Singapore to Munich, train from Munich (through Austra) to Bressanone and then car into the mountains to our beautiful beds in Montchalet Hotel, Ortisei.Read more
