    Kotor was settled by the Romans 2000 odd years ago and since then has been occupied by the Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans, Austro-Hungarians and finally by cats & tourists. It's a stunningly beautiful stone town that, IMO, is prettier, quieter and shadier (as in out of the sun cf Bankstown plaza after 9pm) than Dubrovnik. It is also positioned in the Bay of Kotor - a beautiful protected body of water with a narrow neck that makes for a grand entrance. All this, and I got to add another country to Penguin!Read more
