    On to West Pennant Hills

    March 8 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

While driving to Evelyn’s, we noticed a crack on the windscreen that kept growing. So the first thing we had to do when we arrived at West Pennant Hills, where Evelyn and Carlos (her husband) live, was to ring the rental firm to get them to organize the windscreen replacement. Once done, Carlos and George drove to the local garage and left the Crib with them overnight.

Evelyn suggested we go into town but first visit Fran nearby at the Meadowbank Grove Community Care Centre. Fran is George’s oldest cousin, who had visited us in Donegal with her daughter, Joanne in 2013. Though suffering from dementia, Fran was her usual frank, lovable, cheerful self. George took her through the McPherson book he had produced for her. She recalled memories of those she recognized like Martha (George’s grandmother) part of the Irish family that were holy 😄

Then we went into the city by ferry. It was awesome to see the city lights and feel the buzz of a Friday evening in the centre of Sydney. We had a bite to eat and a drink in a restaurant near the Opera House before heading back on the ferry.
