Day five -midnight ascent til 11am

So we ascend at midnight and temps are falling . It’s five top layers and three on bottom as it’s going down to -20! The climb is a bitch ! We zig zag up the outer crater rim - it’s like moon walk plus marathon - 5km straight up ! We are all breathing deeply the light air - we reach Gillman point ! Then it’s another 1km to the highest point Uhuru Peak - 2 from 5 make it ! ME!! Puffing very heavily ! Then it’s down almost ski-ing the scree ! Knackered !
