  • Got the tuk tuk

    September 18, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

This is Tiki our tuk tuk. We're gonna drive Tiki around the whole of Sri Lanka. We sit in the back and dad drives. The traffic is better than Bali. Tiki broke down yesterday, but some local people helped us to fix her. Tiki has one door and no windows. When it rains we have to put plastic doors down.Read more

  • The turtles

    September 19, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Today we were on our way to our hotel but then we saw a turtle sanctuary so we went there. It was $30 for all of us. We went in and there were so many types of turtles .Five types to be exact .We saw tiny one day old turtles and they were so cute and we also got to pick up a turtle. It was like an orange color and that was called a green back turtle because without their shells they're backs are green. My favourite turtle is the albino turtle because it is very pretty and white and it's very rare to come across.Read more

  • The fish market

    September 21, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Yesterday we went to the fish market at 7 am and it was really stinky. After that we went to the tsunami place and there was a piece of the train that got destroyed during the tsunami. And then we went to the beach and me and frog went swimming and we saw a turtle in the distance so we went to check it out and then we went back to swimming but then we played a game of tip and I didn't want to play anymore so frog went to to sit with Mum and then I saw a turtle with a bunch of people around and when we got there we barely got to see the turtle and then we sat there for a little and found some seaweed so we try to bring the turtle in to shore have a look and we did but then everyone started crowding us and pushing us away even though we were the one who bought the turtle in.
We had roti and curry and it was delicious. I found a passionfruit and basil seed drink and I give them a billion out of ten!

  • Met some friends in Galle Fort

    September 22, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

We arrived at Galle Fort and went for a long walk around the fort wall. We had some fried rice for lunch and had a swim at the beach. There were lots of shells and rocks. We saw some kids playing soccer near our hotel and asked if we could join in. We had such a fun time and played cricket with them the next day too. We shouted the boys an icecream after playing which was so fun.
We also went to the cricket today. It was so hot! I don't think I could go back for a second day though!
I learnt that when the tsunami hit, the walls protected Galle

  • First Surf- first swing in Weligama

    September 24, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌬 29 °C

We arrived in Welgima and we went to explore. After that we went for a surf and it was really fun. We surfed for hours and hours. After that me and frog found a swing so we got some photos on it and the waves were really good. They were about 2 to 3 ft- it might not sound big but it's pretty good for me. I give the beach 7 out of 10.Read more

  • My chocolate roti

    September 25, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌬 30 °C

Our last day in weligama. We got up and went to have our most favourite breakfast ever. I had two chocolate roti and they tasted amazing. And they only cost $1.50 for two, what a bargain. It is a small little shack with lots of locals eating there. They sell curry, Hoppers and vegetable doughnuts. We made a friend from my photo and he made us food all the time -he was so nice. I give weligama a 8/10. We also got these very yummy Apple flavoured lollipop.
We drove to Marissa today and it rained a lot on the way. We had to put the sides down on Tiki. I had a cup of tea for lunch and it was delicious. I am learning all about Sri Lankan tea -I like to drink my tea with lots of sugars just like Pappy. I am going to have cups of tea every day

  • My best wave

    September 27, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌬 30 °C

We went to Weligama to surf. We went back to our first spot, which is the best spot. Brother made a surf friend from Israel and they surfed together for an hour. I also went surfing and I got on my first wave by myself. It felt good to catch one without help. We went to our favourite food place- they all remembered us and said hello. I had a hopper with egg and a chocolate roti. We drove back to the hotel but we stopped at the grocery shop which is called Food City and I bought a bag of dog treats for black dog, brown Dog and white dog. Black dog held it in his paws when I gave it to him. I thought that was really funny! Black dog put his paws on my shoe to protect me.
This hotel is very nice and there is a bath that looks out to the ocean.

  • Monkeys Madness

    September 29, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We woke at 5.30am and got ready for the safari. Then we drove to the national park - we saw an elephant on the side of the road. As big as a bed!
In the park we were driving around looking for animals, it was fun in the jeep. I thought I might see a leopard, but I only saw it on my shirt! We saw some very cheeky monkeys .🙊🙉 There were so many cute ones, especially the teeny new born ones. I wanted to bring all of them home! I am going to put them into my backpack. I would feed them special monkey milk or baby formula. I will definitely bring them to school for show and tell! Someone in our family did not like the monkeys though..
We saw elephants 🐘and a billion peacocks🦚 and we saw a crocodile 🐊 but they were not as big as ours.🦌we saw some deer too. We were given egg sandwich for breaky- I hated them.
I really liked the National Park but I really wanted to bring a monkey home.

  • The super sloth bear

    October 3, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

We woke up at 4:40 a.m. and hopped into the safari car. And it was pitch black. We saw lots of spotted deer. And we saw an elephant stuck in the mud. He had to use his trunk to get out. After he ran away into the bush. If I live with an elephant it would throw me up with its trunk in the air. I probably call him trunky.
The sloth bear looks like a sloth with its long claws. I wanted to cuddle it. It was so cute. It would use so much shampoo though.
And then we saw a leopard which is very very rare to see. There is only 20 in The National Park. It kind of looks like a cheetah. And we saw some black face monkeys and the one little baby. And I saw a monkey pregnant.

  • Elephant road 2.0

    October 4, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We left our fancy hotel in the morning to drive to Ella. I did not like the road because it was a bit scary- there was a big elephant bull standing in the middle of the road. I was a bit scared but not as scared as Frog. I said "holy moly ' to dad . We had to tuck in behind a bus. The elephant was bigger than the bus. I'd call him Mr Giganto!
We had to drive up the mountain and Tiki was exhausted afterwards. Our first hotel wasn't great so we moved- much better now.
I feel a bit sick today, hope I feel better tomorrow. I managed to eat a chocolate crepe though. I would give it 12000 out if 10. It was delicious! I also played with a very cute baby who was born here in Ella.

  • Tiki's tea stop

    October 5, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

This morning I was feeling sick. I couldn't decide what I wanted for breakfast so I had a bread roll. We went to Tiki's tea stop which is a tea sanctuary. I saw lots of tea fields and tea leaves. Probably makes over a billion cups of tea just from the plants we saw. We got the tour of the outside where you pick the leaves and pay to do their job. I wasn't too impressed cause I felt sick so I squattered down. It was finally over after 20 whole minutes. Mum bought some tea. I would like to take Florrie when I felt better- but the inside tour. I liked it still and it was interesting. A lady helped us, she has been picking tea for over 30 years. She picks at least 20kg every day. I think I picked about 10 leaves....Read more

  • The tricky trains 🚂

    October 6, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I call the trains tricky because you never know when they are coming!
I still wasn't feeling well but I still went with everyone cause I am a good girl. I had a passionfruit gelato and eggs on the way to our big walk. We walked to the 9 Arch Bridge- which was huge!. The teenagers were dumb and hanging their legs over it. If they fell they would die because it is like 1000 feet high. We saw 4 Trains which was cool. To get home we walked along the train tracks. We rang Pappy and Florrie when we were walking and Pappy said *get off those train tracks nowwwwww!". I laughed and said "no!". On the walk back we found a snake skin. It was about 8 foot and it made Daddy look short. We had to walk on the wooden parts of the tracks. I chased dad down the tracks. It was cloudy and rainy. At the beginning of the walk I was not so keen, it was so hot! But by the end I liked it.Read more

  • One hectic hill!

    October 7, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

We woke up and had breakfast at our favourite bakery and this morning I was feeling much better. I don't feel sick at all!
We drove to the beginning of Little Adams Peak and started our walk. I think there were over a gazillion steps, or maybe 116. The walk up was ok I guess but I did have to have a few sit-down squat breaks. When we got to the top it looked cloudy with a bit of grass. I was catching clouds in my paperbag- I would consider selling the cloud for $2 billion. Sri Lakas finest clouds! The boys didn't wait for us walking down. We pranked them and said we saw a leopard!. At the bottom we convinced mum and dad to let us climb the rock wall. I was very scared at the start because it was so high. I made it to the top and then jumped down. I loved climbing the rock wall. It rained right after we finished climbing. At the hotel it rained so much, like the whole ocean dumped on our hotel.
We went to One Love pub to play with our little baby friend. I don't know how to pronounce his name I will miss him, he was so cute. I had a chocolate crepe for dinner- amazing!

  • Chilling on a train

    October 8, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

We woke up SO EARLY! We had to give the man our tuk tuk because we had a train to catch. Our train was to Kandy, but not like the candy you eat. We were VIP on the train because we had big comfy seats! 7 and a half hours in the train but it felt like forever! Out the window I saw people building, lots of trees, tea fields and tunnels. When I was on the train and we stopped at a station, dad hopped off the train and he wasn't supposed to!
The man blew the whistle and he had to get in fast! When I was hanging out of the train it felt cold because we were so high up, maybe like 1000 metres. It was scary hanging out the window because you didn't know if a tree was coming.
When we got to Kandy I felt hot and there was so many people. We had to get a tuk tuk to the hotel. We went past some shady looking monkeys and they gave me the side eye.
We went to the meat market in Kandy, but I am not talking about that.

  • The big Buddha

    October 9, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We started with a delicious breakfast, the passionfruit juice kind of tasted like daddy's beers.
We had a driver today and had a car with airconditioning! Comfortable seats and real doors! We went to the big white Buddha first. I was smaller than his toe! My fact for you is that he is 88 metres high.
We went to see a Stupa and it was beautiful inside- it was like pretty graffiti.
We also went to a big tower- I didn't walk up it because it looked sketchy and it gave me the jeebers. In the evening we watched the Sri Lankan dancing. 8 of the dances were boring but I liked the 2 with fire and gymnastics.
And I finally got some egg Hoppers for dinner!

  • The beautiful Buddhas

    October 10, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

We left Kandy today, I was glad to leave the crazy traffic! We had to keep the balcony door closed in Kandy- monkeys might come in our room and take our stuff! We drove Tiki again today - she had a rest yesterday so was ready for any hills. We stopped at some caves on our way to the next place. We had to climb a lot of stairs again to reach the top. Monkeys everywhere again and some extra cute baby ones. I don't know how I am going to fit them all in my bag!
The caves were very cool, even after all the stairs. Frog and I counted the Buddhas, about 150 I think. There were lots standing up and some huge ones lying down. I would lay down too if I had to keep climbing stairs.
When we got to our next stop we had a bit of a rest, but not for long because dad rang and said 'get to the river as fast as you can'. I had a feeling it was an elephant and I was right! Eddy the elephant having his bath! He might be a bit harder to bring home. It was sad seeing the elephant with a chain around his foot- I didn't like that.

  • That's a big rock to climb!

    October 11, 2024 in Sri Lanka ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Well we had to walk and climb and hike and scramble this morning to the top of Pindurangala Rock. I was ok with this walk, it was hard but I did it and made it to the top. Steps to start with and fun rock scrambling at the top. There was even some dogs at the top! I don't know how they got there but they were having a good time just chilling out! I felt like I was on top of the world looking out at the land. We had a great view of Lion Rock from the top and we were the same height as it too. I also had a drive of Tiki today, just down the path to our little cottage but it was lots of fun. I had to dodge the monkeys on the side of the path.Read more

  • First stop in Malaysia

    October 13, 2024 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

We arrived on our plane from Sri Lanka and went to hop in our Uber and when we got to our hotel we went straight to bed. We woke up at 1:00 in the afternoon and just had a chill for an hour. So we went downstairs to the market and I found at tangahulu and it was delicious. And then we came back and me and Dad had a swim. After our swim we went to the market at 5:57 p.m. and the markets were amazing it was like heaven. There was so many yummy foods I just wanted to eat everything but not so much the frog legs. When we had dinner brother decided to prank me by saying the chicken was frog legs. I was really grumpy so the only way they could make it up to me was by getting me a dessert.Read more
