  • Xiao Xiao the giant Panda in Tokyo

    17 Januari, Jepun ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Today we went to the Tokyo Zoo. I had been wanting to go to the zoo to see the Pandas, rhinos and polar bears. It was pretty cheap to get in- free for us! We went to the Pandas first and we had to line up for about 45mins. They are the most popular attraction at the zoo and everyone wanted to see them. When we got to the front of the line we had 1 minute to take photos. His name was Xiao Xiao. He looked like a big fluffy teddy bear and he was eating bamboo. When I saw him I wanted to cuddle him.
After Xiao Xiao we saw the red Pandas, the rhinos and the hippos. But it was really bad because they had no room in their enclosures. No one was looking after them like they do at the Australia Zoo. I felt a bit annoyed and mad and sad because they shouldn't be in a tiny enclosure. It was also really cold today so I felt sad for them outside in the cold. Sometimes zoos aren't that good.
The zoo wasn't as great as I thought but the Pandas were pretty cool.
At home Frog and I made some gummy sushi lollies. It was heaps of fun to make it but it didn't taste great. Another super super Japanese day.

  • Another day, another DAISO 💗

    14 Januari, Jepun ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

Today was shrine day.... they must be coming to an end soon! It was an old shrine and looked like the other ones we have been to. We did see some cherry blossom trees🌸🌳 with flowers which was a bit weird but great to see.
    So many people everywhere though.
The boys had enough and went home but mum and I went back to Harajuku! My favourite! We tried a special crepe that is famous from Harajuku. And thank God we found a Daiso- haven't been for a while so stocked up on some essentials.
We looked at lots more shops and I bought a few cool Harajuku things- an ear cuff earing, some Karomi stuff, a name tag for my school bag and just took in all the good Harajuku air! I love coming here.
Mum and I caught the train home and found a cool dinner place near our house. You order the food from a vending machine (udon noodles for me) and you take the ticket to the counter. It was very tasty. Oishi!
It's hard being out at night, we are all so tired and it's pretty cold.

  • Hakone was hectic!

    13 Januari, Jepun ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

What a big day! We jumped on a train to Hakone, which took an hour. And then another train and it was doing a lot of zig zagging and changing tracks. We got to the top of the hill and ate some hotdogs! I had an icecream that was delicious -made from Japanese milk, from Japanese cows, from a Japanese farm! It was the bomb!
We found a capsule toy machine and we got some cool key rings.
Next was a funicular train. And then a Gondola!
Let me tell you about some eggs! I was a bit worried because it stunk in the sulphur valley- like farts.
But we tried the boiled eggs and they were so yummy I had to get some more. The shells turn black which is pretty weird.
We saw Mt Fuji from the Gondola and also from the egg place. Mt Fuji was beautiful and it is a volcano but with snow on it! One of the coldest volcanoes in the world. The boys can climb it, but no thanks for me!
I wasn't really scared in the Gondola because they felt bigger than usual. Maybe I am getting used to them.
I have never been on a pirate ship until today. But there were a lot of people on it. Should have got them to walk the plank.
Pretty cool to be on a pirate ship though.
It was a fun day- different with all the different transport. My favourite was the boring old romance train.

  • Heaven in Harajuku 💗

    12 Januari, Jepun ⋅ 🌙 6 °C

We woke up today and I didn't know what was going on because mum said it was a surprise. First we went to a park that had a big shrine... and you know how I feel about temples and shrines. Just too many of them! But we only stayed for a short time. After this we walked to Harajuku! Heaven for me and Hell for dad. The minute we walked in I oved this place. The first shop I stepped into I bought some shoes. Sparkly, purple and huge soles that makes me tall. Lots of girls in Japan wear these shoes. And I got a bargain, only $20. I got a huge cotton candy and I devoured it all. Delicious. We walked and looked at so many shops that I loved. I found a shop with the world's cutest Japanese outfit, so of course I had to get it. I can't wait to wear it, when it's not so cold.
Harajuku was just so colourful and it made me feel like the happiest girl in the world. I love the style of the clothes.
Mum won't let me wear my new top out in Japan because it is so cold.
I wish that I could go back to Harajuku one day soon!

  • The massive markets!🍓

    11 Januari, Jepun ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

Mum tells us everyday how cold it is and when we get outside it's not as cold as she says. She says this so we put warm clothes on- which I hate doing.
Today we went to a food market called Tsukiji. It was VERY busy and there were thousands of people there. There was lots of sashimi but I didn't have any. I did try some delicious A5 wagyu steak though! We picked out a tray of meat and the man cooked it for us.
We also got some strawberries, some were red and some were white. A tray cost us $10, and that has 5 strawberries on it. Some trays cost like $50! The white ones are very special.
I also bought some new chopsticks with a cat on them- perfect for me!.
We walked around for ages just looking at the different food. It was all pretty expensive through.
We chilled out and got some snacks from 7-11. There are lots of lollies for me to try! I am doing my best to get through as many as I can. Dad calls me Spendy McSpendy because I always want a treat!.
I got to choose dinner and of course I chose curry! Mum was not impressed and said- no more curry, only Japanese food!
I feel tired tonight, but it was a fun day out.

  • Walking through water

    10 Januari, Jepun ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

We went on a surprise day- I was begging to know where it was, in case it was a temple! We went on a driverless train and sat up the front looking out the window.
We got to Team Lab Planet and I still didnt know what this place was. When we went in we had to listen to a video about the rules. I found out it was a big art exhibition. The first area was the GARDEN section- it was a room filled with flowers from the ceiling. They were moving up and down. I walked through the room and it made me feel happy to be with all the flowers. The walls, floor and ceiling were made of mirrors. I took some great videos.
The next room was big giant silver pebbles and they were egg shaped. I liked the mist.
The next area was WATER. We had to take our shoes off and we started to walk through a dark room up a waterfall. The water wasn't too cold. We walked into a light area that felt like space. It was like crystals everywhere. Another area of the water section was the giant ball area. A bunch of giant balloons that you could touch and push around. There was a koi pond that had water up to our knees but the fish weren't real, they were projected onto the surface of the water.
We loved it so much that Frog and I went through twice.
Today was so much fun and I would definitely go back here.
We walked to Shinjuku in the evening and saw Godzilla. He is a big statue on top of a hotel. Shinjuku was really busy with lots of lights. We had karage and gyoza.

  • Happy little hedgehogs in Tokyo

    8–9 Jan, Jepun ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

We had a travel day on the 8th. I do not like travel days. We had to catch a train from Nagano to Tokyo. It was really hard work with the bags when we got to Tokyo. It was BUSY! We finally made our way to our Tokyo house and we were glad to just dump these bags. We had a good curry for dinner- we always have a curry, which is good because I love a curry!
Today, which is January 9th, we started our Tokyo adventure. We are staying in a nice quiet area, in a nice laneway.
We caught the train to Shibuya this morning and we went to a hedgehog Cafe! I loved it! I think they are so cute. We got to hold the hedgehogs, but only 2 of them really liked that. The 2 that liked to be held were not hedgehogs but a very similar animal from Madagascar.
The hedgehogs could fit in my hand and they were spiky as you would imagine. But they were tiny. I had to use a pair of gloves for some of them. They also had tiny mice that I really liked playing with. We stayed for an hour. Very cute animals.
We walked through Shibuya and found a sushi train. I had some roast beef sushi and udon noodles.
We did some shopping after and guess what I found.... Daiso! I just love Daiso. Mum left me and frog to shop by ourselves and we did a pretty good job at spending some money. Frog was my personal assistant and pushed the trolley for me.
And then mum was feeling generous and let us play at the toy machines. You put coins in and you get toys out. Better than the claw machines because you always get something. I got a Mt Fuji toy, a sumo man, a stitch toy and brother got some snowboards. Dad hates these machines.
We wandered through the streets, and the lights all came on as it was getting dark. We also crossed the famous Shibuya crossing quite a few times. I think that 100000 people cross every day it is so busy!
Day 1 in Tokyo was amazing. Hedgehogs, sushi, Daiso, toy machines and a new sticker for my surfboard! Frog said I can have his old board when he gets his new one.
