• Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace & surround

    6. juli, England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Today I popped on my best Myer pearl earrings, and my sensible sandals! Off to visit the Palace along with the rest of London! We decided to walk there because of the epic locations along the way that we didn’t want to miss. Hyde Park, Rose gardens, Wellington Arch, Diana’s memorial, the green park and finally Buckingham Palace. What a walk!! So much to take in. Rows of massive established trees, squirrels, ducks, ponds, imposing monuments and the local people who are enjoying the mostly sunny and pleasant weather. We headed to the palace gates and were speechless with the size and grandeur of B.P.
Our visit coincided with the changing of the guard ceremony. Red tunics and bearskin hats aplenty!
They were disciplined and regimented, and seemed to take everything quite seriously. Lots of foot stamping, gun grabbing and commands being shouted. Impressive!!
The band was pure joy. I had goosebumps while God save the king was playing. We left around 12pm after many kilometres of walking and 1 hour standing but our heads buzzing!
Part 2 of the day is coming 😄
