Train Ride in a Cave

Today we left Coatia for the last time on this trip and entered Slovenia. Our first destination was Postojna Caves.

An electric train took us 3 miles into the cave where we disembarked and walked amoung amazing caverns and geologic formations.

During WW II, German forces stored aircraft fuel inside the cave. Partisans blew up the fuel depot and it burned fpr 7 days. Formations near the depot are still blackened by the smoke.Read more
