The Highlands

In a country of stunning drives, this morning was another as we made our way through the highlands.

We made a stop at a packhorse bridge on the River Oykel, which was very pretty. A packhorse bridge is one built wide enough that a horse with packs on either side could cross.

Our drive though the highlands and UNESCO World Heritage Area continued until we reached the fishing village of Ullapool on Loch Broom (a sea loch), which dates back to the Viking era as a herring fishing area. Not surprisingly, it was a pretty spot as well.もっと詳しく
