Isle of Skye

After leaving the highlands, we travelled along the west coast of Scotland and crossed the Skye Bridge at the village of Kyle of Lochalshe to get to the Isle of Skye ("speed bonnie boat ... over the sea to Skye").

The Isle of Skye was first settled by Celts and then the Vikings. It is the ancient home of the McDonald and McLeod clans.

We visited Portree, the largest town on the Isle of Skye and went to Sligachan, with views of the Cuillin mountains.
