Sizergh Castle

Next stop before Kendal was Sizergh Castle. It is a medieval manor and home to 26 generations of the Strickland family. The original parts of the building date back to the 14th century. Through marriage the branch of the family living their now are the Hornyold-Stricklands. Yes that is not a typo and is actually their name! The current family gave the estate and castle to the National Trust as it was the only way to ensure its survival, but still live in a wing of the building.Meer informatie
