Volcano National Park and Hilo

We got up at 4.15am and headed south to volcano. The drive took about 2 hours and we arrived just as it was coming light.

We watched the sunrise over the crater then drove in the opposite direction. We stopped and walked through a lava tube. We then parked and went for a bigger walk to see another crater overlook.

Back at the car, we drove through the old lava fields to the coast, having our picnic breakfast along the way.

Once we left the park we drove to Hilo and found a car park.

We walked to the farmers market and had an iced coffee and shave ice. We then spent some time looking around the market and shops before driving back to Waikoloa village. We picked up some lunch at the supermarket, which we ate back in the room.Read more
