Rugged beauty of the ocean and cliffs...

📍 Gris Gris Public Beach

After a long drive of about forty-five from La Cambuse, we reached this beach located at one of the southern most points of the island. Unlike the calmer beaches, this one had a rugged charm with dark volcanic cliffs.

With no coral reefs to protect the shoreline, powerful ocean currents crashed directly onto the cliffs, splashing water all around, creating raw and mesmerizing scenes. Swimming is not allowed here due to the strong waves, but that only added to its untouched, wild character. Some tourists were seen exploring the cliffs and soaking in the views.

After spending some time walking around, we relaxed under a shaded spot near the viewpoint, which offered a wide panoramic view of the coastline. We spent around an hour here - exploring, unwinding, and simply listening to rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs.Read more
