14 hours in Kuala Lumpur

We planned a layover in Kuala Lumpur so that we could break the trip up and go see the sights a bit in the capital if Malaysia. We were both pretty tired after our first 14 hour flight so the hot humid climate, massive sunshine and buzz of the city were a bit of shock! We visited many places, including the biggest mosque, the Batu caves which have a Buddhist temple inside, we had lunch at a food market, walked past a few royal palaces and stopped by the financial district to see the Petronas Towers (nice) and the new Merdeka 118 (not so nice).
After an hour of relaxing and freshening up in the airport lounge we're now kind of ready (so tired) for the second long leg of the trip: Kuala Lumpur to Auckland, where we arrive tomorrow around lunchtime.

We hadden een tussenstop gepland in Kuala Lumpur, zodat we de reis konden onderbreken en de bezienswaardigheden in de hoofdstad van Maleisië konden bekijken. We waren allebei behoorlijk moe na onze eerste 14 uur durende vlucht, dus het hete vochtige klimaat, de enorme zonneschijn en het geroezemoes van de stad waren een beetje schok! We hebben veel plaatsen bezocht, waaronder de grootste moskee, de Batu-grotten met een boeddhistische tempel erin, we lunchten op een voedselmarkt, liepen langs een paar koninklijke paleizen en stopten bij het financiële district om de Petronas Towers (leuk) en de nieuwe Merdeka 118 toren (niet zo mooi).
Na een uurtje relaxen en opfrissen in de luchthavenlounge zijn we nu een beetje klaar (zo moe) voor het tweede lange deel van de reis: Kuala Lumpur naar Auckland, waar we morgen rond lunchtijd aankomen. Czytaj więcej
