Orthodox Easter in Greece

Just spent a wonderful day with Stephanie K and her family celebrating Easter Sunday in a typically Greek fashion with the whole family and lots of friends at the family villa just up the hill in Ligia. 3whole spit roasted lambs, dyed hard boiled eggs, that you use to try to crack your opponents egg, overall winner gets a year of good luck, lamb innards soup 🥣, name begins with a K, (surprisingly delicious) and wonderful patisserie style desserts.
The previous evening we stayed up till midnight to attend the church service, see the icons on parade and light our candles from the light of Christ that gets flown to Greece by fighter jet from Jerusalem. We also got to hear a lot of giant banger and I mean giant, they hurt your ears. Photos of the parade to follow, will use those from the Lefkas press.Lue lisää
