Easter Sunday early morning parade

As I mentioned the flame of Christ is flown in and after a church service the priests light the congregations candles and the congregation then light everyone else’s candles. Unfortunately it was a bit windy and the candles kept blowing out but the idea is that the flames get carried to peoples homes to bless the houses and families for the coming year. This is also the ending of Lent and some families break their fast after the service eating meat and other blood related food stuffs for the first time in 40 days, others wait till Easter Sunday lunch. Part of this also involves walking the churches decorated icons around the town.En savoir plus
