Fort McClary State Historic Site

We took the scenic route into Maine and stopped at Fort McClary State Historic Site. This little fortification was used throughout the 19th century to protect the harbor in Portsmouth. It was small in size but big on views. It was our first taste of the Maine coastline.

We couldn’t resist exploring the fort sitting on top of the hill! One of my favorite pictures taken was the views seen through the windows.
