  • Rugby

    January 21, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 8 °C

Today we went to the sky tree. We then wandered through all the cute shops and had a very yummy dumpling lunch. Then we went to watch the rugby in the freezing cold and I think our team won. We had a vending machine waiter for a lovely dinner of tempura and soba. We then went out to the golden gai, full of tiny bars. We had snake juice shots and strange drinks.Read more

Feeling a bit worse for wear we got up early to head to Hakuba. After a 7 11 breakfast, missing a few connections because we were moving a bit slow, experiencing the bullet train and buying too many bus tickets we made it. We got our skis and tickets to set ourselves up for an exciting week of skiing. Bed early tonight.Read more

  • Ski and steaks

    January 24, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ❄️ -4 °C

Our day started early at about 2 30am where we were woken up with the sound of last night's $80 steak out to haunt those that had it. Today it started snowing and we skied until our legs and stomachs allowed.
It puked with snow harder than cal did last night. After a soak in the onsen we were excited to see the snow on the streets and went for a walk around the town to find dinner however the excitement did not last as it was very cold and windy. I nearly froze.

  • Powder day

    January 25, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ -11 °C

Today we caught the bus to iwatake but it was closed so we waited for the next bus to Tsugaike. It was a windy day and very cold at -11 (-18)🥶. We spent the whole day skiing the same runs through the trees and powder. I quickly learnt that although it is a very soft landing when you crash, it is very very difficult to get back up in deep powder. I also discovered hot chocolate in a can. After another onsen we went to get dinner at the food trucks and I had a long journey to swap my broken boots. We finished the night with some cards.Read more

  • Echo land

    January 26, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ -2 °C

We cut the ski day a bit short as our legs were very tired. Once home we had an onsen for our sore legs and got ready to go out to Echo Land for dinner. We got our karen on and spoke with the manager re: steaks. We had a yummy dinner, hot sake and did some karaoke and futsal at a bar.Read more

  • Snow monkeyss

    January 27, 2023 in Japan ⋅ 🌫 -6 °C

Today we gave our sore legs a rest (except for jordy tahnee and tobin) and headed to the snow monkey park. We made our way via the sleepy bus. To get to the snow monkeys we walked for 40mins in the slippery snow through all the pretty trees. The snow monkeys were super cute and enjoying the hot springs. Emma and Luke smiled at one and it got a bit grumpy. On the way back we saw a man slip over 2x in 1 minute 😞. Starving, we headed to a resturant however we realised that the bus was in 20 mins or 2 hours so we got an apple pie and rushed for the bus. When we got home we were even more starving and smashed some noodles before dinner. We went to the Red lantern for a very yummy dinner where I accidentally ate alessias main meal and she ate mine because we had no idea what we were ordering.Read more

  • Ski 100

    January 28, 2023 in Japan ⋅ 🌫 -7 °C

Today we skied again at Happo one. My legs were still very sore and the visibility was bad. I still had fun skiing through some slushyish powder. We cut the day short to go listen to the hottest 100. We had a quick onsen with face masks. We then went to a apres bar with all the Aussies in the area to listen to the count down. There was ski shots, footballs dancing and snow balls. After this we went to another bar where there was live music and we made all the song requests. With all our dancing and singing I wondered why lots of people left the bar 🤔. Then a DJ came on and I went to but while others kicked on.Read more

Some of the more experienced skiiers went back country skiing while I braved the ungroomed runs through the thickest powder ever! Elbow deep. We skied until we could ski no more. We made olaf and Sven and had fun in the snow. We then went home and played some cards before dinner. We went to a really cool traditional BBQ resturant and got corn icecream 🌽. Once home we got ready to pack 😞.Read more

We went to about 12 in the area but they were all booked out. We then went to a cat cafe with all the cute cats! It was about $10 for 10 minutes. We had the best ramen in a small resturant.
