Ride Day #22 - Sioux Narrows to...

The first major mechanical...at church! We were aiming to get to Fort Frances today, and had made a very strong start - knocking off nearly 50K in the first couple of hours. Then, as I was pedaling along, the rear wheel stopped spinning in sync with my pedaling - as it had so faithfully done since Victoria. A fatal mechanical fault - i.e. one not easily repaired roadside. Carl was called to the rescue and, in the meantime, we took refuge at the church that just so happened to be in the middle of nowhere, right where the fault struck! We had to head back into Kenora to secure a temporary fix to the issue, and hopefully will be able to sort it properly in Thunder Bay at the weekend. Thankfully, we had worked a margin day into our schedule for Saturday in attempt at anticipating things just like this without getting too knocked off plan. Looks like we are riding Saturday!
