Ride Day #42 - Rv. du-Loup to Edmundston

"Ride auto-paused". That's what comes up on the bike computer when you've started a planned route and it senses you've stopped rolling. It's count of your time in the saddle pauses while you, well, do any manner of things. You could be just taking a break over good food or enjoying conversation with a fellow traveller.

But some things provoke the undesired auto-pause. Some days you get a puncture. Some days you get four in as many hours. Some days your route proves way more demanding and isolated than the initial planning indicated. Some days the water stations you plan to refresh at don't work. Some days it rains for hours and hours. Some days you realise the GPS signal is running with squirrels and you've misread the dot on the map and have to turn back amid a confusing network of trails. And some days all these things and more happen in one day. That was today.

But some days you cross another provincial border! And some you discover the immense kindness of strangers. Some days your motel turns out to have an authentic Indian restaurant and good Canadian beer and are open late. Some days you go from being terribly discouraged to hopeful over an hour.
