• Ride Sunday? We'd never...

    June 28 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We`ve taken Sundays as rest days since beginning our adventure but today we decided to ride in order to keep a planned rest day on Wednesday, for Canada Day in Charlottetown PEI - the seedbed for Canadian confederation.

We then made it about 700m and realised Judah had a done tire. I guess when his rack broke yesterday it compromised his tire. So we took our Sunday rest day after all!

We booked the motel for the night again and Shirley, the motel owner, had her husband Fred drive Judah back to the town we left yesterday to get what we needed. A two hour round trip!

It's a moving thing, seeing God's provision through persistent challenges. You'd rather not have the challenges! But in his wisdom, it's actually precisely through them that you see and learn the most important and beautiful things - not least our need for dependence on him for even the smallest things, but also his beauty woven through fellow humans as you share your need with them.

We had planned to ride our first Sunday today and were literally stopped in our tracks. Reminded, I guess, that it's not been us primarily who have guided and supplied the journey. We make our plans, and it is right that we try to, but he orders our steps. Lord willing, rolling again tomorrow and really looking forward to seeing dad soon. There's huge encouragement and provision in his arrival.

And Judah got back safe and sound from his mini-adventure with a stranger. Maybe Fred and Shirley are angels in disguise 😇🤔
